Here is a single page from the album. It is part of a two page layout, but I’m not really happy with the other one, so I decided not to post it. But I *love* the center pic in this page. It’s one of my favorites. (It may be hard to see, but he’s eating a stick…hence the page title.) We were in Waterton National Park. The deer at the bottom of the page I added as a reminder of the crazy deer that live in the townsite there…I’ve never seen deer so aggressive! We couldn’t even take the dog outside without the deer charging us. It made for a crazy vacation.
A little change in gears… February 3, 2010
It’s been way too long since I posted! The entire household (three kids, hubby and my pregnant self!) took turns getting sick over the course of two weeks. Yuck. I know there are bloggers who find a way to post even when the house is full of sick people (even the authors themselves!) but I’m just not one of them. Once we all recovered, I spent some time preparing to switch gears for a bit. I went to a scrapbooking retreat this past weekend, and my goal was to finish (okay….start! lol) my youngest son’s baby album. I’ve committed only to scrapping the first year of life for each of my kids. I’m so happy I didn’t commit to more than that….I’d never keep up! I haven’t touched traditional scrapbooking since before my youngest was born. (And for the record, he’s now almost 16mths old!) Cards have become my crafting life. And that works for me. Except when I have a baby album to finish before the next baby arrives. heehee. So I got to work. I am pleased to say I was able to complete 18 pages for the album. So I thought I’d post a few of my favs here for your viewing pleasure.
(And specifically, for Renee! Hi Renee!!) I hope you like them!
It’s swap time! January 21, 2010
It’s that time again….time to make cards for a swap! The only requirement this month was to make something with RED, and here is my creation: a waterfall card! My first attempt at one. Not too bad, don’t ya think?
This is one of those cards that can only truly be appreciated IRL or on video…you pull the tab at the bottom and then the four little squares on the front kind of flip behind, one at a time. The picture doesn’t show it well, but I used red stickles on all of the hearts. So cute! Card swap gals…this one’s for you! I hope you like it!
Sympathy January 20, 2010
Sympathy cards are not my favorite to make, both because of the reason for needing them and because I find them a challenge. But I got some new stamps over the holidays that lend themselves toward sympathy cards…what a difference that makes! I’m also going to put this as a second entry for the Moxie Fab challenge. While I really like the previous card, I wanted to have another go at completing the inside of a card.
Supplies used: designer paper from Costco, misc. cardstock and ribbon, Cricut ’stamping’ cartridge, background stamps are Studio G and sentiment stamps are Verve
Moxie fab….Start to Finish! January 19, 2010
I got a call from a family member who needed some thank you cards for several police officers….talk about a challenge! This is what I came up with, and I have to say I’m pretty happy with it. A few bumps in the process…one involving my dh saying “You *can’t* put THAT on a card for men!” lol. But in the end a good result, I think!
My goal for myself this year is to enter cards in at least two challenges every month…so this card gets to be the lucky number 1 entry! I’m entering it into the Moxie Fab card challenge, which is to make a card that has the inside finished as well as the outside. I usually leave my insides completely blank, so this is new for me. The inside of this one certainly isn’t terribly exciting, but the simplicity of the sentiment carried from the outside to the inside I think is a good fit for cards that are designed specifically for men. And they have the husband stamp of approval to boot! lol The cards are cut on my cricut using the wild card and stamping cartridges. The cardstock is bazzil, designer paper is from a costco pack, the twine is from Walmart and the sentiment is printed on my computer. (I know…I should win a prize for my unique material sources! haha!) Anyway, I hope you like it!
Lots of Love January 7, 2010
I feel like I’ve barely said goodbye to Christmas and here I am in the midst of Valentines cards already! This one is an old design. The stamp is from a Hero Arts set called ‘With all my love’. I scrounged to try to find out what the patterned paper is, but could only find scraps, so unfortunately I can’t say what it is. But I love it! Wish I had bought more at the time!
Party Time! December 31, 2009
I will not take credit for this design…it is completely case’d, although I’m really bad at keeping a link to where I find stuff, so I apologize to it’s creator. If you happen to stumble onto my blog, feel free to message me and I’ll add a link to your original!
In any case, I really liked it so had to create my own version of the card!
